This month marks the 20th anniversary of the release of the greatest album from the greatest band (in my mind). A masterpiece in every respect. Brilliant lyrics ("some 9-year-old tough who peddles drugs; I swear to god, I never even knew what drugs were...", "Oh sweetness, I was only joking when I said by rights you should be bludgeoned in your bed...") and Marr's fantastic music (the opening to 'Bigmouth Strikes Again' always brings me out in a huge grin). I remember listening to John Peel (RIP) playing tracks from it during the '86 world cup and being blown away by every new song. Will it still sound good in another 20 years' time? I imagine so. Morrissey & Marr, I salute you.

One of the best ablbums ever.
Reminds me of this though. Just been sitting here alone reading it and killing myself laughing.

[Released eight years after the breakup of The Smiths, the last Smiths album prior to Diana's death
was a retrospective compilation of their singles, titled "SINGLES".]
For the cover of this final Smiths album before Diana's death,
Morrissey chose a photo of an actress named Diana
clutching a pillar
in the film YIELD TO THE NIGHT.
Princess Diana
crashed into a pillar
just minutes after midnight.
Unbeatable.

In the film CARRY ON CLEO referred to by Morrissey,
Actress Amanda Barrie played Cleopatra.
Amanda Barrie as Queen Cleopatra
is the last person mentioned on THE QUEEN IS DEAD.
At the time of Diana's death,
Amanda Barrie was starring as the character
'ALMA'
in the long-running British soap opera
CORONATION STREET.
Diana's death occurred in the underpass beneath
Le Place d' ALMA.
A street sign for
CORONATION STREET
is above Morrissey in his only photo on
THE QUEEN IS DEAD:
Absolutely conclusive proof of Morrissey's collusion in Diana's death. In fact, rumour has it that MI5 enhanced the grainy CCTV footage of the motorbike riders chasing the motorcade, to see one of the bikers clutching a bunch of daffodils whilst crooning 'Sheila Take a Bow'.
